Walk-In Immunizations
Vaccinations & Immunizations in Berkeley Heights, NJ
Walk-in vaccinations at Sage Urgent Care — flu shots, tetanus and TDAP boosters, hepatitis, MMR catch-up doses, and select travel vaccines. No appointment needed.
Stay current, walk-in
Routine immunizations protect against preventable infections — some of which we still see regularly at urgent care. Sage Urgent Care offers walk-in vaccinations for adults and children: seasonal flu shots, tetanus and TDAP boosters, hepatitis A and B, MMR catch-up doses, pneumonia vaccines for older adults, and select travel vaccines.
Most people don’t need an appointment for a routine vaccine. Walk in any day from 8 AM to 8 PM, and we can typically have you in and out in about 20 minutes. If you’re due for a tetanus booster after a cut or injury, we administer it the same visit as part of your wound evaluation.
When to come in
- Annual flu shot (October through March, available while supplies last)
- Tetanus or TDAP booster (recommended every 10 years for adults; sooner after a deep cut or animal bite)
- TDAP for pregnancy (recommended in every pregnancy to protect newborns from whooping cough)
- Hepatitis B vaccine (3-shot series; for adults who didn’t complete it in childhood)
- Hepatitis A vaccine (recommended for travel to certain regions and for some occupational exposures)
- MMR catch-up doses (for adults missing the 2-dose series)
- Varicella (chickenpox) vaccine for adults without immunity
- Pneumonia vaccine (recommended for adults 65+ and younger adults with certain conditions)
- Meningitis booster (for college students, some travel destinations)
- Shingles vaccine — we don’t stock Shingrix; refer to pharmacy
- Required vaccinations for school, camp, work, or travel
How we handle it
- Quick pre-vaccine review. We confirm your immunization history (bring records if you have them), review allergies, and check for any conditions that would change the recommendation.
- Counseling on what the vaccine does. We explain what each vaccine protects against, common side effects, and when to expect protection to kick in.
- Administration. Most vaccines are intramuscular injection in the upper arm. The shot itself takes seconds. A brief 15-minute observation period afterward catches any rare immediate reactions.
- Documentation. We provide a printed vaccination record card and update the NJ Immunization Information System (NJIIS) so your record is available to other providers.
- Post-vaccine guidance. We explain what side effects to expect (sore arm, mild fatigue, possible low-grade fever for 24–48 hours), what to watch for, and when to follow up.
What happens at your visit
- Walk in any day, 8 AM to 8 PM. No appointment needed. Bring your insurance card and immunization record if you have one.
- Quick history. Allergies, current illness, prior reactions to vaccines.
- Vaccine administration. Upper arm injection, takes about 30 seconds.
- Brief observation. 15 minutes in the waiting area to catch any immediate reactions — these are very rare.
- Leave with documentation. Updated vaccine record card and a copy of your visit summary.

Vaccinations FAQs
No. Walk in any day from 8 AM to 8 PM. Most vaccine visits take about 20 minutes including the post-vaccine observation period.
Routinely: flu shot (in season), TDAP, tetanus, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, MMR, varicella, pneumonia (Prevnar 20 and Pneumovax 23), and meningitis. We do not stock the shingles vaccine (Shingrix) — pharmacies are the easier source for that one.
Some. Hepatitis A and B, TDAP, polio booster, and meningitis are available. For yellow fever, typhoid, Japanese encephalitis, or rabies pre-exposure, we recommend a dedicated travel clinic.
We can administer routine school-required vaccines for older children including TDAP and flu shots. For the full childhood vaccine series (MMR, varicella, hepatitis B, pneumococcal, HPV, etc.), we recommend coordinating with your pediatrician for continuity of records, but we can fill in catch-up doses when needed.
Most routine vaccinations are covered as preventive care, often with no copay. We’ll verify before administration. Self-pay costs vary by vaccine — flu shots are typically around $35, others are higher.
Depends on the vaccine. Tetanus/TDAP — every 10 years for adults (sooner after a dirty wound). Flu — annually. Hepatitis B — generally lifelong protection after the 3-dose series. MMR — 2 doses lifelong. Bring your records and we’ll review what’s due.
We don’t stock Shingrix (the recommended shingles vaccine). Most retail pharmacies (CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid) stock it and can administer it without an appointment.
Availability and recommendations change frequently. Call ahead at (908) 363-0378 to confirm current COVID vaccine availability.
If your last tetanus booster was more than 5 years ago and the wound is dirty (or 10 years for clean minor wounds), yes. We administer the booster the same visit as your wound evaluation — no separate trip needed.
Yes — every vaccine we administer is logged in your chart and reported to the New Jersey Immunization Information System (NJIIS). You’ll also leave with a printed card.
